Topic: The Conestoga Wagon
Our Speaker Series continues on May 21st with Katelyn Reist. Conestoga wagons have played a significant role in shaping our nation. Unlike some misnomers, the wagons were not used to haul people, but were used to transport freight. During the presentation, Katelyn will talk about the history of the Conestoga wagon, the roads they traveled, the Conestoga wagon design, and accessories associated with the wagon.
Katelyn Reist was raised on a farm that has been in her family since the late 1800s. She is originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, but currently resides in Red Hill. She is a small animal veterinarian who became interested in history at an early age by visiting local museums with her family, collecting artifacts, and listening to her grandfather give historical presentations and tours. She has a passion for preserving our heritage, sharing her knowledge with others, and continuing to pass on history from one generation to another. Katelyn looks forward to giving her presentation and hopes that you will be able to learn a little more about Conestoga Wagons.
