NYCHAPS purpose is to promote and encourage the study, collection and preservation of the historical heritage of the Northern York County area, located midway between Harrisburg and Gettysburg. If you would enjoy learning more about our heritage, local history, family history, or have an interest in preservation, we invite you to become a member of our society.

CONGRATULATIONS NYCHAPS!

Both of our buildings were accepted into the York County Heritage Program. This is a joint effort between the Lancaster-York Heritage region, the York and Lancaster counties planning commissions and the PA Dutch and York County Convention and Visitors Bureaus to promote heritage tourism in both counties. The goal of the program is to promote the areas by preserving local heritage and sharing it in an informative and entertaining way by offering authentic and unique experiences. Eligible sites include learning centers, natural areas, and nature centers as well as museums and historic sites.
The program, which is completely new to York County and a revitalization of a Lancaster program begun 14 years ago, started accepting applications for sites in March and received 26 entries. The Dillsburg sites were two of only 19 chosen during this inaugural year.
As a part of the program both sites will be included in all promotions done by the parent program, including full page websites, inclusion pamphlets, brochures, guides and special events. Technical assistance in planning, historical interpretation, and continuing education seminars will be available to NYCHAPS through the program.
Part of our responsibilities includes having the buildings open to the public on a regular schedule. Watch for details as we develop our interpretation program and set times.
