NYCHAPS holds a variety of events throughout the year, including historical workshops, lectures and discussions, tours, cultural festivals, and reenactments. Events are most often held at the Maple Shade Barn and Dill's Tavern in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania.

Stop by 35 Greenbrier Lane in Dillsburg every Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon for unique displays by the best local craftspeople and artists. Tell the cashier you learned about Saturday Morning Markets online and get a free Dill's Tavern goodie! Also, while you’re in town shopping, be sure to stop by Dillsburg’s other great shops. Local is always best!
Holiday House Tour
Sunday, December 1st
Chairman Yvonne Laukemann will host a fantastic lineup of eight local sites in and around Dillsburg to visit during this year's Holiday House Tour. Enjoy refreshments and music by "Occasional Sax" afterward at Dill's Tavern. Tickets are for sale at The Book House along Route 15 in Dillsburg.
December Public Program: Christmas Covered Dish Dinner

Maple Shade Barn
Join NYCHAPS for our annual Christmas potluck. Please bring your favorite main dish, side dish or dessert to share. NYCHAPS will supply drinks, plates and utensils.
During dinner, we will receive a visit from Belsnickel, a crotchety and impish unconventional German Santa who will be portrayed by Bruce Hoover from Lititz. Belschnickel is Pennsylvania Dutch for “Saint Nicholas in Furs” and was the precursor to the jolly Santa Claus we know today put forth by Clement Moore. The fun starts early this time, at 6 p.m. Come hungry!
First Friday Featuring Greenwood Music
Friday, December 6th from 7 p.m.-10 p.m.
at Dill's Tavern and Plantation
Spend a candle-lit evening at Dill’s Tavern enjoying the medieval sounds of Greenwood Muse. Try your hand at colonial card games, sample our refreshments, and enjoy the ambiance of the tavern—historical clothing is encouraged! Be sure to BYOB. Admission is $10 at the door to benefit Tavern restoration, but Founders and Tavern Keepers get a discount with their membership cards. All guests must be 21 or older.

•Hessians and Highlanders
Saturday, December 14th, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Dill’s Tavern & Plantation
Hessians and Highlanders are coming to Dill's Tavern this December. The public is invited to meet two groups of the most colorful soldiers who supported the British Army during Revolutionary War times. Admission is $5 per person and includes a guided tour of the Tavern.
Saturday, December 14th, 7:00 p.m.
Historic Monaghan Church, 15 E. Church St., Dillsburg
The Colonial Christmas event begins at Historic Monaghan Church with a candlelight service of Christmas readings and Christmas hymn singing. After the service, everyone is invited to make their way from the church to Dill’s Tavern, whether driving their own cars or walking behind our colonial lantern carrier. At Dill's Tavern guests will find refreshments waiting. Hot cider and cookies will be served in front of lit fireplaces, and candles will light the rooms for a warm and lovely Christmas tradition. Everyone is encouraged to don historical clothing.
